Kymeta Claims Milestone In Satellite Link

Redmond-based Kymeta, the Bill Gates-backed antenna and advanced materials developer, claimed it has reached a major milestone in delivering its technology to customers Tuesday, saying that it has successfully linked up its antennas with a Ka-band DTH satellite. The startup–whose products are based on technology out of Intellectual Ventures–said the milestone provides that its technology works in the real world, outside of a laboratory. Kymeta believes that its new materials will create a new generation of lightweight, low power, low profile satellite antennas. The fir believes that small size and power requirement has the potential to transform communications across many industries. Kymeta recently inked a deal with satellite developer Inmarsat to further develop its technology.
