Brig. Gen. (Retired) Scott Stapp is the Chief Technology Officer and Chief Revenue Officer for DEFCON AI. Prior to coming to DEFCON AI, Stapp served as the Corporate Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Corporate Vice President of Engineering for Northrop Grumman. He was also the company’s lead for Joint All-Domain Command & Control (JADC2) and National Security Space.
Stapp has over 20 years serving in executive roles to include leading Northrop Grumman Aerospace System’s research and technology development, Director of Specials Programs for the Office of the Secretary of Defense and Chairman of the Tri-Service Committee, overseeing the national disclosure policy and transfer/export of technologies crucial to the international community.
Stapp has received distinguished honors including the CIA’s Agency Seal Medal, the Director of National Intelligence Award for Collaboration Leadership; the National Reconnaissance Office’s Silver Medal for Superior Service; and the Air Force Weapons Laboratory’s Outstanding Technical Achiever of the Year Award.
Chris Marzilli joined Kymeta’s Board of Directors in April 2025. Mr. Marzilli enjoyed a 40 year career with General Dynamics, one of the nation’s top five aerospace and defense companies, serving in several executive capacities during his tenure. For thirteen years from 2006 to 2019, Mr. Marzilli was the president of the defense technology business unit - C4 Systems and later Mission Systems - a leading provider of advanced C4ISR solutions to the DoD, Intelligence Community, Federal/Civilian agencies, and international markets. In 2019, Mr. Marzilli flighted up to GD Corporate headquarters where he oversaw the Technologies group as Executive Vice President, an organization of over 40,000 professionals with annual revenues exceeding $13 billion. Since his retirement from General Dynamics, Mr. Marzilli proudly serves on the boards of Arcfield, Epiq Solutions and iRocket, as well as the Sentinels of Freedom Scholarship Foundation. Mr. Marzilli is a Senior Fellow and adjunct faculty at the Virginia Tech Hume Center for National Security and Technology. Mr. Marzilli is a graduate of Middlebury College.
Brian became an advisor to the Board of Directors in April 2025. Brian is a sought-after strategic advisor to policy institutes and technology firms, drawing on his thirty-year career in the U.S. Defense Department and Intelligence Community. He holds a Master's in Physics from the Air Force Institute of Technology and a Bachelor's in Physics from the United States Air Force Academy. Currently, he is a senior fellow at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, a senior advisor for Blackstone Private Equity, and a venture partner for SineWave Ventures. He also serves on the board of Whitehawk Ltd. and as Chief Innovation Officer for NineTwelve. His expertise lies in uniting resources and advanced technologies to benefit warfighters and drive U.S. technological leadership.
Jay “Scott” Goldstein became an advisor to the Board of Directors in April 2025. Scott is a Senior Vice President and Fellow at Parsons Corporation where he leads critical technology and strategy activities across their Defense and Intelligence sector. His 40+ year military career spanned service in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. He retired from the Air Force as a Major General where he led space, cyber and RDT&E activities across the DoD and intelligence community. Scott’s industry experience ranges from VC-funded start ups to Fortune 500 companies, where he led business units and served as chief technology officer, chief strategy officer and chief scientist. He received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California, has published well over 200 publications and holds 5 U.S. Patents in spread spectrum communications, advanced sensor data compression, ISR and adaptive processing for signal detection. Scott is an IEEE Fellow and recipient of both the IEEE Fred Nathanson Award and the IEEE Warren White Award. He serves on the boards of several companies and professional associations, university advisory boards, and DoD advisory boards.
Rick Bergman joined Kymeta as President and CEO in April 2024. Rick has extensive executive leadership experience in top tier technology companies across the past two decades, most recently as Executive Vice President of AMD, a Fortune 500 company from 2019 to 2023. At AMD he managed the graphics and semi-custom businesses and combined AMD’s high-performance CPUs, GPUs and software to create differentiated solutions, growing annual revenue from $2.4B in 2019 to $6.8B in 2022. He also served as President and CEO of Synaptics, a public company, from 2011 to 2019. Rick transformed the company from a hardware module supplier to the PC business to a diversified human interface solution provider using leading edge semiconductor and software technologies for the PC, automotive, IoT and mobile markets. Previous to this Rick held several executive roles at AMD, from 2001 to 2011 as well as senior roles at S3 and Texas Instruments. Rick graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science, Electrical Engineering and received his MBA from the University of Colorado.
